 1. What is an operating system?

Ans - An operating system is a basic program which acts as a link between a user and a computer.

2. What is a program?

Ans - In computer, the term 'program' refers to a set of instructions that a computer understands.

3. What is booting process?

Ans - When we switch on a computer, it itself checks all the devices in it or connected to it.

4. What is the desktop?

Ans - The first screen that comes after the booting process is known as desktop.

5. What are icons?

Ans - The small pictures which we see on the desktop are the icons.

6. Write the name of some operating systems.

Ans - Name of some operating systems are -

  • Windows 98
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows 7
  • Windows XP etc. 
7. What is wallpaper?
Ans - The background of the desktop is called the wallpaper.
